Day in the Life of a KCLC Student

Keres Children’s Learning Center (KCLC) receives many questions and inquiries about our Native language immersion practices and how we use the Montessori Method in service to our mission.  The videos you see here were inspired by a film our founder; Trisha once watched called Edison’s Day. The videos follow one student in each learning setting throughout their day. The video is not narrated. Our infant/toddler (birth-3 years) and primary (3-6 years) classrooms are Keres immersion classrooms. Our elementary (6-12 years) and adolescent (12-18 years) are dual language (Keres/English) classrooms using the 50/50 Indigenous Dual Language Education (IDLE) model.  KCLC is grateful to the families of Elsie, Brady, Malia and Marshall for allowing their children to be filmed.  We respectfully ask that you watch the videos with respect for the children and their various developmental levels, especially their development of their Keres language.  Learning one’s Native language as a second language is a developmental experience where all families are doing their best to support their children in that learning.
